Dental Clinics Amsterdam IJburg is een moderne en ruime tandartspraktijk, gelegen op Steigereiland aan de IJburglaan 388. De praktijk is goed bereikbaar met het openbaar vervoer: tramhalte Steigereiland (lijn 26 vanaf Amsterdam Centraal Station) ligt op loopafstand. Ons team en specialisaties
Ons team bestaat uit ervaren tandartsen, mondhygiënisten en preventie-assistenten. Daarnaast werken er gespecialiseerde behandelaren, waaronder een parodontoloog, implantoloog, endodontoloog (gespecialiseerd in wortelkanaalbehandelingen) en een orthodontist voor Invisalign-behandelingen. “This is the worst dentists practice I ever had to deal with!
Waste of time and money!
First I get racist remarks that the manger tried to buy with wine and chocolate, then I get a treatment for 4 months that the manager does not believe in just because the ortho in house thinks it might work, then this uncertain elastics treatment is done wrongly anyway for those 4 months, then the first retainers do not match so I have to get the moulds done again, then due to a bad advice of the staff the second retainers break then they never call back to let me know what to do when hey say they would and after complaining to the manager again I get retainers for free... but not really because I cannot use what I got given that the retainer is stock on the mould and the other mould broken in shipment.
In the meantime we are over a month later and I still have no night retainers after having spent more than 3000€ at this practice!
This is a joke!”

They refused to even look at it or place it back; I still have it, it was very expensive. More of my molar broke off over time and I should go back, but for the first time in my life I'm afraid of dentists. Unnecessary and super expensive scans, photos, and an expensive night guard (apparently not needed, according to a 2nd opinion.)
The other recent 1-star reviews line up with my experiences as well. Prolonged periods of pain, fillings falling out, crowns (plural) breaking, and I have otherwise decent teeth: I actually floss regularly.

I had an unfortunate experience with wisdom tooth removal at this clinic. While the dental hygiene treatments were satisfactory, my wisdom tooth extraction led to a prolonged period of discomfort and complications. The dentist opted to section the tooth instead of removing it entirely, which resulted in severe pain and multiple fragments of tooth and bone surfacing from my gums over the course of two months.
Despite returning for several follow-up appointments due to ongoing pain, the suggested treatments were largely ineffective, consisting primarily of increased painkiller dosages. It wasn't until after two months of suffering that the remaining tooth fragments were finally extracted, requiring me to undergo the entire healing process again.
To make matters worse, I was billed for all the additional appointments and X-rays that became necessary as a result of these complications, including an appointment that I did not attend and one where no meaningful action was taken. When I raised concerns about these charges and the overall situation with customer service, my issues were not adequately addressed, and further communication attempts were ignored.

During my treatment I had multiple staff changes because people left the practice, which meant I had to constantly repeat myself and explain things that had happened. The notes taken in their internal dental EMR system did not seem to help.
I asked for my personal data to be able to move to a different dentist and it took multiple back and forth emails again to get that. I also tried switching to a different dentist to complete the treatment, but understandably no other dentist wanted to accept the risk for botched work done by someone else.
1 positive thing: I was able to take the 3d print of my teeth made for my final retainer with me.
In essence: I hope this practice goes out of business soon and that the staff find better places to work that enforce higher standards and support staff better with the resources they need. I’m assuming this is a systematic problem of freelance dentists running through franchise businesses.

Ik kan niet anders zeggen dat ik super tevreden ben met het eindresultaat, deskundigheid & omgang met mij.
Op aanraden van Annelies heb ik afgelopen augustus een kaakoperatie ondergaan omdat ik een overbeet had en dit niet gecorrigeerd kon worden met het dragen van elastieken. In het Olvg locatie Oost heeft chirurg van Gemert mijn geopereerd. De operatie is goed gegaan en met het resultaat ben ik heel erg blij mee.
Ik zal Tandartsenpraktijk Amsterdam locatie Ijburg aanbevelen bij iedereen die een mooi gebit wil hebben. Ze staan altijd voor je klaar ook al heb je een draad of slotje loszitten en heb je geen afspraak, ze maken altijd tijd voor je en zijn altijd super vriendelijk.

Making my story short please find the summary below.
I came to Dr van Sundert with a crack in my tooth. Dr van Sundert quickly restored the tooth however this restoration fell out within 24 hours while brushing my tooth with a floss. My next appointment was an appointment with Dr Echteld. She fixed the work of Dr van Sundert by adding extra polymer on the top of Dr van Sundert’s work. Dr Echteld discovered a small problem in my other tooth and booked a new appointment for me. During my second appointment with Dr Echteld a restoration was done. However, the restoration done by Dr Echteld fall out within 6 weeks while brushing my teeth with an electric tooth brush. My next appointment was an appointment with Dr van Calcar. He fixed the work of Dr Echteld (for extra charge of course). I am very sorry to say that but the polymer filling Dr van Calcar made is hanging over my gym (causing plaque getting stuck between the tooth and the gym). Additionally, the colour of restoration is total mismatch with my own tooth. It means that the work of Dr van Calcar should be also redone in the short term perspective. In order to make 2 fillings I have visited this clinic 6 times and this is not the end of the story.
We are very sorry to notice that we could not match your expectations. We've never send you this invoice and we thought we solved this problem over 2 months ago. 1) At the first check-up they make you take a lot of unnecessary pictures irrespective of how bad your situation is. Even people with perfect teeth who just go to do a routine checkup get huge bills. My situation is not good, so it seemed justified in my case.
2) They want you to have a separate appointment for everything. While my previous dentist could remove some little dark spots at a checkup without charging extra, these guys refuse and want a separate appointment with a hygienist.
3) At my second checkup they told me some fillings needed to be done on one side. But when I came later (to another dentist), I was told that they need to do works on the opposite side of the mouth (including a tooth that was to be removed!). I protested and it took half hour to figure out that there was a mistake in documenting. But while doing so they told me - well, we can do work on both. Like it doesn’t matter for them where to drill… And they only fixed mistake for one tooth, so that repeated later as I needed to do more.
4) Fillings. I’ve never before had pain under the anesthetic anywhere else. It felt like the shot was done in a wrong place, I could feel everything perfectly. And after the filling was done the pain didn’t go away, I had to have another appointment to fix it, for which I had to pay again. This happened several times to another person I know who goes to a different dentist at this same practice. So it’s not just one person issue.
5) I also had a wisdom tooth removed, which was bleeding heavily for 8 hours because of the poor stitches that broke in the first half hour while I was just talking.
6) I also need an orthodontic treatment and asked to get an exception from insurance to cover part of it. It took almost a year(!) for the practice to finally send pictures to the insurance with me babysitting the process. In the end insurance denied since they thought the case is not urgent, but they told me that if the orthodontist explicitly writes what issues I have they will reconsider. I called the practice to get an appointment to discuss, but they said orthodontist is not working full time and in the end they don’t know when I can have the appointment, so, if I need something urgent I need to go somewhere else. A week or two after I got an email from another assistant asking if I still want the treatment. I replied explaining the situation and saying that depends on orthodontist availability, and in the end because it’s taking so long I might need to try another place. To that I got a quite rude reply, which I am attaching, judge for yourself if this looks professional.
That message was the last straw, I would rather travel half hour to another practice (what I do now) than deal with such disrespect on top of everything.

This is the best looking dentist i have ever seen! so far all the positive points. Once they start treatment, everything is going downhill rapidly. In my experience, they are compensating for their mediocre service/experts with their nice and fancy rooms and equipment.
I had a very bad experience with 1) the treatment (had more pain after and nobody could fix it) and 2) their invoicing (since the dentist didn't do a proper job, i had to go back for them to 'diagnose' further, and even when i was told this would be free of charge, they would STILL CHARGE me for the time i was there (few minutes tops). Also, i had to pay for an appointment that they made without informing me? Nice ways to make money right!
This is their business model: have numerous of dentists working their (they are renting the space) and have just a few assistants taking on all their appointments. this way they can house many dentists with just one or two persons managing all the appointments. this is very chaotic and different from the traditional business model.
My advice: do business with a real dental practice, not this 'franchise' dentist practice where nobody takes responsibility and they don't care about you as a customer. I am going back to my old dentist (it's worth the 30km drive).
