Daar komt bij dat ik herhaaldelijk facturen heb ontvangen die naar mijn mening niet terecht zijn. Ook hierover heb ik vragen gesteld en geprobeerd duidelijkheid te krijgen, maar dit heeft tot op heden niet tot een bevredigende oplossing geleid.

De combinatie van gebrekkige communicatie, het herhaaldelijk niet nakomen van terugbelafspraken, de naar mijn mening onterechte facturen en het onbevredigende eindresultaat van mijn behandeling geeft mij sterk het gevoel dat mijn zorgen onvoldoende serieus zijn genomen. Ik had mogen verwachten dat mijn behandeling en de afhandeling van mijn klachten met meer zorgvuldigheid, duidelijkheid en professionaliteit zouden worden behandeld.

Tot op heden, 1 september 2026, is er nog steeds geen passende oplossing gekomen. Furthermore, I have repeatedly received invoices that, in my opinion, are unjustified. I have also asked questions about this and tried to obtain clarity, but to date, this has not led to a satisfactory solution.

The combination of poor communication, the repeated failure to honor call-back appointments, the invoices which I consider unjustified, and the unsatisfactory end result of my treatment gives me the strong feeling that my concerns have not been taken sufficiently seriously. I should have been able to expect that my treatment and the handling of my complaints would be treated with greater care, clarity, and professionalism.

Ultimately, I had a personal conversation about this with employees of this practice. During that conversation, it was promised once again that I would be contacted to reach a solution. Unfortunately, this promise was not kept either. As a result, the same pattern seems to be repeating itself time and again: I raise the issues, it is promised that contact will be made, but subsequently, a response or actual solution fails to materialize.

I would like to explicitly state that I did indeed send a final email. I have not received a response to this email. Therefore, the claim that I did not respond is incorrect. To substantiate this, I refer to the attachment.

To date, September 1, 2026, no suitable solution has yet been reached. Despite my repeated attempts to resolve this situation with this practice in a normal manner, the conversations that have taken place regarding this matter, and the assurances made to me by both Ms. Werner and other employees of the practice, I am still waiting for a substantive resolution of my complaint and a concrete solution.

Unfortunately, I have reached my limit with this, and I consider this matter closed, albeit with a very negative feeling regarding the way everything has unfolded. The practitioner was very patient and nice, she provided me with all the information I needed to know and even more tips. I highly recommend her and this clinic!

I moved from Amsterdam to Castricum 10 years ago, but I still go to this dental practice. That speaks volumes!

So a routine checkup turned into a 5-hour long nightmare that cost me a whole workday. They placed an expensive crown which broke off a year later. They refused to even look at it or place it back; I still have it, it was very expensive. More of my molar broke off over time and I should go back, but for the first time in my life I'm afraid of dentists. Unnecessary and super expensive scans, photos, and an expensive night guard (apparently not needed, according to a 2nd opinion.)

The other recent 1-star reviews line up with my experiences as well. Prolonged periods of pain, fillings falling out, crowns (plural) breaking, and I have otherwise decent teeth: I actually floss regularly.

I'm on the lookout for a great dentistry.

While the dental hygiene treatments were satisfactory, my wisdom tooth extraction led to a prolonged period of discomfort and complications. The dentist opted to section the tooth instead of removing it entirely, which resulted in severe pain and multiple fragments of tooth and bone surfacing from my gums over the course of two months.

Despite returning for several follow-up appointments due to ongoing pain, the suggested treatments were largely ineffective, consisting primarily of increased painkiller dosages. It wasn't until after two months of suffering that the remaining tooth fragments were finally extracted, requiring me to undergo the entire healing process again.

To make matters worse, I was billed for all the additional appointments and X-rays that became necessary as a result of these complications, including an appointment that I did not attend and one where no meaningful action was taken. When I raised concerns about these charges and the overall situation with customer service, my issues were not adequately addressed, and further communication attempts were ignored.

In my opinion, the handling of my case was unprofessional, with inadequate follow-up care and a concerning focus on billing rather than patient well-being.

Communication was always terrible - unfriendly, delayed responses on written communication and not sticking to agreements made verbally (I asked to get a single bill instead of constant small invoices. I was later informed by someone different, that that was not possible apparently, but it was agreed in the beginning). Their phone system was broken for a while and did not transfer calls that were put on hold.

During my treatment I had multiple staff changes because people left the practice, which meant I had to constantly repeat myself and explain things that had happened. The notes taken in their internal dental EMR system did not seem to help.

I asked for my personal data to be able to move to a different dentist and it took multiple back and forth emails again to get that. I also tried switching to a different dentist to complete the treatment, but understandably no other dentist wanted to accept the risk for botched work done by someone else.

1 positive thing: I was able to take the 3d print of my teeth made for my final retainer with me.

In essence: I hope this practice goes out of business soon and that the staff find better places to work that enforce higher standards and support staff better with the resources they need. I’m assuming this is a systematic problem of freelance dentists running through franchise businesses.

Dr Echteld discovered a small problem in my other tooth and booked a new appointment for me. During my second appointment with Dr Echteld a restoration was done. However, the restoration done by Dr Echteld fall out within 6 weeks while brushing my teeth with an electric tooth brush. My next appointment was an appointment with Dr van Calcar. He fixed the work of Dr Echteld (for extra charge of course). I am very sorry to say that but the polymer filling Dr van Calcar made is hanging over my gym (causing plaque getting stuck between the tooth and the gym). This is a great dental lab with an excellent staff. I moved to Amsterdam four years ago and found this dentist nearby. They have been great in the dental checkups and small repairs.
